MTV's 22 Greatest MCs Countdown
I was off from work yesterday due to the Inauguration so I spent the day playing with Lauryn and watching some television. It was great...that is, until I turned to MTV2's 22 Greatest MCs Countdown. When they announced the number 22 spot, I knew I was going to disagree with most of it... and I did!

NYC Trip
My trip to NYC was great. Although I did not see much of the city, it was still exciting to be a part of such a large meeting. It was especially interesting to see the process/ planning that goes into a meeting that size.
In all, we had 1, 573 meeting attendees from all over the world. I met cardiologists from the Netherlands, Belgium, China, Spain and Canada. It was a great and tiring experience.
I am looking forward to our annual meeting which draws over 30,000 doctors each year.

Holiday Party
Every year, the ACC has a huge holiday party at the Marriott in Bethesda, MD. During the party, a choir made up of staff members sing holiday song while everyone eats. The songs that are usually sung during the party include Jingle Bells and the Twelve Days of Christmas. This years, the choir director (who is the minister of music at her church) has decided that the choir should sing "Perfect Praise". This song is super religious (Christian) and I really think it is going to offend people because our organization is VERY diverse. I am thinking that the holiday party will be very interesting this year!!

Weight Watchers Happiness!!
I just finished the most wonderful lunch. I am not a huge fan of Chinese food since my bad experience in Boone (Crystal, you might remember that one!!) but today I had something great from this local joint near work. Let me preface by saying I usually do not order out because I am doing the Weight Watchers program and it is almost impossible to find out how certain dishes are prepared. Today, I found something that was within my point range and it was delicious. I had steamed chicken and vegetables with garlic sauce on the side. Maybe I have been under a rock for the last 27 years but I have never had steamed meat before. I was suprised that the chicken actually retained its flavor. I was also surprised that the meat was not completely dry. This restaurant also has other steamed entrees that sound wonderful so I have several options for those days when I don't feel like packing something...
I am a very happy woman.

First Business Trip
I am very excited because on Thursday I go to NYC for the first time on my first business trip (ever). I will be in NYC for two days, working the ACC's 37th Annual Cardiovascular Symposium as a registration coordinator. Maybe I will get to meet Dr. Craig Smith. He is the doctor who performed bypass surgery on Bill Clinton earlier this year. He is scheduled to attend this year.

You Are From the Sun |

Of all your friends, you're the shining star. You're dramatic - loving attention and the spotlight. You're a totally entertainer and the life of the party. Watch out! The Sun can be stubborn, demanding, and flirty. Overall, you're a great leader and great friend. The very best!

Some of these apply... I guess. But I do not know the difference between a "redneck" and a "hick".
You Know You're From North Carolina When... |
You've gotten used to the smell of cow manure on a car trip to Raleigh.
Saying "y'all" isn't just a cute expression; it actually means something.
There are big labrador retrievers in the back of every truck.
You give directions using KFC and Waffle House as landmarks.
You still see Dale Earndheart tributes on cars.
You can't imagine life without Bojangles' sweet tea Your annual church fundraiser always deals with bbq and potato salad
You have a sunburn from May to October
Your 'heavy winter clothing' consists of some turtleneck sweaters, a fuzzy jacket, and your daddy's boots
Your family has fried chicken once a week
You can tell the difference between cotton fields and tobacco fields while driving
One of your neighbors has a confederate flag hanging on their front porch
Those "damn yankees" are taking over your school/church/workplace/neighborhood...
You've been "properly raised", and yankees love it when they hear you say "ma'am" and "sir"
You get your carbs from biscuits, rolls, pancakes, and grits
You know the difference between a "redneck" and a "hick".
You own at least one surf shop or seafood restaurant shirts.
No matter what those people in ohio say, we are still "first in flight"
The Coca-Cola 600 is as big as the Super Bowl
You prefer Chick-fil-a to KFC
You know pastry is a chicken stew, not a dessert item.
Every time you visit someone you’re offered something to eat and a glass of tea.
Your granddaddy always wore overalls and your grandma always wore an apron.
In summer you have home-grown tomatoes with every meal.
When it rains and the creek rises, everyone gathers to see how high it rose.
You know that "chunk" the ball means to throw it.
You've had a burger "all the way" - chili and slaw on it.

You have at least one relative that raises collards. Your folks have taken trips to the mountains to look at leaves.
Your school classes were cancelled because of a hurricane.
You know Krispy Kreme makes the best doughnut.
You have an opinion about UNC. You went there and loved it, or you hate everyone who did.
You know the best BBQ is found in Lexington

You have actually uttered the phrase "It's too hot to go to the pool"
You faithfully drink Pepsi or Mt. Dew everyday of your life.
You have your own secret bbq sauce.
You or your neighbors have more hunting dogs than you have family members.
You actually get these jokes and pass them on to other friends from North Carolina.

Life Sentence!!
You Are a Liberal for Life |

You've got a bleeding heart - and you're proud of it.
For you, liberal means being compassionate, pro-government, and anti-business.
You believe in equality for every person, and you consider yourself universally empathetic.
Helping others is not just political for you ... it's very personal too.

I have finally arrived in the land of Live Journal and I am happy to be on-board. Thanks for all your help with the set-up Becca... your a peach! Cry, thanks for you help as well, without your code, none of this would be possible. (this is starting to sound like a speech!)
Anyway, not much going on in the nations capitol except work, and school registration. After a nice, long summer vacation, I hope I can get back into my school groove. I can't wait to graduate, again! Two more years...Two more years...
